“USDT TRC20 on Trezor?” — that was the whole title of an r/TREZOR thread in July 2025, and for years the honest answer was no. That has changed for most models, but not all. Trezor’s guide for Tron now puts it in two sentences:

“Tron works on Trezor Safe 7, Trezor Safe 5, Trezor Safe 3, and Trezor Model T. It is not available on Trezor Model One.”

Trezor, “Send and receive Tron and TRC-20 tokens in Trezor Suite” (source).

Short answer: on a Safe 3, Safe 5, Safe 7 or an up-to-date Model T, add a Tron account in Trezor Suite and receive USDT TRC-20 directly. On a Trezor One you can’t hold USDT on Tron. Ask to be paid USDT on Ethereum instead, or have the USDT swapped from Tron to Ethereum (or to BTC) on the way to your Trezor.

Which Trezor models support USDT on Tron?

Model Tron and USDT TRC-20 What to do
Trezor Safe 3, Safe 5, Safe 7 Yes Add a Tron account in Trezor Suite
Trezor Model T Yes, with firmware 2.11.0 or later Update firmware and Suite, then add a Tron account
Trezor One (Model One) No Receive USDT on Ethereum, or swap on the way

Two details from Trezor’s side:

  • All TRC-20 tokens, not just USDT. The same guide says: “Trezor Suite supports all TRC-20 tokens.” It doesn’t support TRC-10 tokens, an older type, and labels them as potential scams in your history.
  • The Model T got Tron in March 2026. Its firmware changelog for version 2.11.0 (March 18, 2026) lists “Adding TRON support for TRX and other TRC-20 tokens, smart contracts, and Stake 2.0.” Forum answers saying “Tron isn’t supported” mostly predate that.

How to receive USDT TRC-20 on a Safe or Model T

  1. Update. Install the latest Trezor Suite and the latest firmware for your device.
  2. Add a Tron account. On the dashboard, click the plus next to Accounts and choose Tron, or turn it on in Settings → Coins.
  3. Copy the address. Open the Tron account, click Receive, then Show full address. It starts with a capital T. Check that it matches the address on your Trezor’s screen.
  4. Give it to the sender with the network spelled out: “USDT on Tron (TRC-20)”. The same address works for TRX and every TRC-20 token.

Receiving costs you nothing. Sending is another story: Tron pays for token transfers with energy, and a new account has none. Trezor’s guide says a USDT transfer uses about 64,000 energy if the recipient already holds USDT and around 130,000 if not, and that “with no energy, covering that costs roughly 6 to 13 TRX at the current price.” So keep some TRX in the same account before you need to move the USDT. And if you send to a brand-new Tron address, the guide adds a one-time 1 TRX account-creation fee.

I have a Trezor One. What are my options?

A Trezor One can’t hold anything on Tron. It does still work with Ethereum: its firmware keeps getting Ethereum updates, the latest in October 2026. So the job is to get the money onto a network your device handles.

Way What you need What it costs Good when
1. Get paid on Ethereum A sender who can pay USDT ERC-20 The sender pays the Ethereum network fee or the exchange’s ERC-20 withdrawal fee The sender uses an exchange with Ethereum withdrawals
2. Keep a separate Tron wallet A software wallet with Tron Nothing to receive; TRX to send later Small amounts you plan to spend soon
3. Swap Tron → Ethereum (or BTC) on the way Your Trezor’s address and a Tron refund address One quote: protocol fee, network costs, our fee The sender can only pay on Tron and you want the money on your Trezor

1. Ask to be paid USDT on Ethereum (ERC-20)

If the sender pays from an exchange, its withdrawal page usually lists several networks for USDT. Ask them to choose Ethereum (ERC-20) and send it to your Trezor One’s Ethereum address (0x…). One catch: to move that USDT later, you’ll need some ETH in the same account for gas.

2. Receive on Tron in a software wallet

You can receive USDT TRC-20 in a phone or browser wallet that supports Tron. It works, but the money then sits outside your hardware wallet, which is probably why you bought a Trezor in the first place. Fine for small amounts you will spend soon; not where we’d keep savings.

3. Swap USDT from Tron to Ethereum on the way

A swap takes USDT on Tron and pays out USDT on Ethereum, or BTC, to your Trezor’s address. The sender just sees an ordinary Tron deposit address, so nothing changes for them. With BayChange:

  1. Choose You send: USDT (Tron) and You get: USDT (Ethereum) — or BTC if you’d rather hold bitcoin on your Trezor One.
  2. Paste your Trezor’s receiving address. Copy it from Trezor Suite and confirm it on the device.
  3. Add a refund address on Tron that you control. If the swap can’t complete, the USDT goes back there. If the sender sets up the swap, it can be their own Tron wallet.
  4. You get a deposit address and the exact amount. The sender sends USDT on Tron to it.
  5. The order page shows the deposit, the swap and the payout, with a link to the transaction on Ethereum or Bitcoin.

Costs, honestly. A USDT deposit on Tron carries a fixed network cost of about 3.4 USDT (October 2026), plus the protocol fee and our fee. On $100, that is a noticeable share; on $1,000, much less. The quote shows what arrives before anyone sends. For a small one-off payment, option 1 is often cheaper.

What can go wrong?

Mistake What happens How to avoid it
Giving your Ethereum address for a Tron payment The sender’s app refuses it, or worse, the sender picks a network your address doesn’t live on Always name coin and network: “USDT on Ethereum (ERC-20)”
Assuming “USDT” means one token Your Trezor may show USDT on Ethereum and USDT on Tron as two separate balances Check the network label next to the balance
No TRX in the Tron account You can receive USDT, but you can’t send it Keep some TRX before you need to move it
No ETH in the Ethereum account USDT ERC-20 sits there until you add gas Keep a little ETH next to it
Sending below a swap minimum The deposit can’t be swapped The order page shows the minimum; send above it

If USDT was already sent on Tron to an address your Trezor doesn’t support, a swap can’t reach it. Coins sent to a Tron address belong to whoever has its keys. Ignore anyone who offers to “recover” them for a fee.

Summary

  • Safe 3, 5, 7 and Model T (firmware 2.11.0+): receive USDT TRC-20 directly in Trezor Suite; keep TRX for sending.
  • Trezor One: no Tron. Get paid on Ethereum, or swap Tron → Ethereum or BTC on the way to your device.

If someone can only pay you in USDT on Tron and your Trezor can’t take it, the form below is set to USDT on Tron → USDT on Ethereum. No sign-up, no wallet connection needed, and the fee is shown before anyone sends. More on other networks in USDT ERC-20 to TRC-20.
